Highlights
MBO: Autonomous production with fold quality control and signature change
MBO shows something unique up to now: Autonomous print processing from the feeder to the placing of the signatures. This is made possible by two completely new components: the optical fold quality control and the fully automatic signature change.
The folding quality control takes place directly behind the folding machine. Two cameras measure the folding tolerances on the finished folded sheets. Signatures that are outside the tolerance are automatically ejected. This ensures that only perfectly folded sheets are transferred to the subsequent delivery.
For the fully automatic signature change, a camera on the feeder reads a data code that was printed on the signature in advance. Each signature has its own code. If the signature changes, the CoBo-Stack destacking robot places the following signature on a new pallet. This prevents mixing up of different signatures.
The autonomous production line from MBO is a milestone on the way to fully automated postpress. The bottleneck in further processing is finally history!
H + H: S45 for folding small products
The small folding machine S45 from H + H is suitable for the production of short folded products. It is available in a predefined configuration. However, you can choose between round and flat pile feeders. By dispensing with machine variants, the S45 can be produced cheaply and quickly. The S45 package includes the feeder, the first and second folder, the transfer and the vertical sheet delivery.
The S45 has features that reduce set-up times, such as the integrated, movable transfer. The eight or four novel folding pockets can remain in the machine for all setting corrections without exception. This allows convenient operation and simplifies the set-up process. The small folder can be expanded with various peripheral devices, such as a belt press, a labeler or a parallel knife folder. The S45 is available for a low investment with short delivery times.
baumannperfecta: Modular solutions for every company size and every printing area
Visitors to the Alliance Days experience tailor-made inline and offline solutions from the modular system from baumannperfecta – from the simple pile lifter to the fully automatic shaking and cutting system integrated into the workflow. baumannperfecta presents two fully automatic shaking and cutting lines – one for commercial printing and one for pharmaceutical applications.
The system for commercial printing consists of the fully automatic shaking system BASA evolution, which transfers the shaken and aligned layers to the fully automatic BASS cutting system. The cutting machine with the robot, together with the BVP buffer, takes on the fully automatic cutting into finished products, which the connected unloader places on a pallet.
With the rotary punching machine BSR 550 Servo and the playing card display ACC 550 HS, BOGRAMA presents an automatic production system for playing cards. In this modular design, complete card decks are punched out, stacked and transferred to a downstream packaging unit in one operation. With production rates of up to 2,000 decks per hour and with the highest cutting quality, the automated production system from BOGRAMA offers everything that is required to produce competitively.
short runs Wohlenberg presents the Quickbinder Edition Digital perfect binder in combination with a D09 three-knife trimmer. These machines in the inline version form the smallest inline brochure production line from Wohlenberg with up to 2,000 cycles/h.
Review of the “Themed Days Cutting and Folding”, June 2021
MBO: Autonomous production with signature change
The highlight of MBO is the autonomous production with signature change. This includes two revolutionary innovations that make the folding machine installation the safest, most efficient and most productive postpress solution in the world: the MBO Autopilot and the MBO fold quality control.
The autopilot works with a camera on the pallet feeder and processes the information from the MBO Datamanager. The camera reads a data code that was printed on the signature in advance. Each signature has its own code. If the signature changes, production is briefly interrupted. The A80 delivery is informed of the signature change by the autopilot and automatically places the new signature on a new pallet with the CoBo stack. This prevents the folded signatures from being mixed up and the meter readings are saved automatically.
The VT50 fold quality control is so far unique on the market. It takes place directly behind the folding machine. Two cameras measure the cutting mark position relative to the outer edge of the paper on the finished folded sheet. The accepted tolerances can be specified by the customer. Misfolded sheets are ejected immediately at the exit of the VT50. This ensures that only perfectly folded sheets are transferred to the subsequent delivery.
In addition to this highlight, MBO showed the quick set-up with the K8, folding in small formats with the T50 and a tried-and-tested pocket folding machine with the T800.1.
H + H: Automated folding in the multi-pocket segment and production of short-folded products
With the M9, H + H introduced a completely new folding dimension in the multi-pocket segment. The implementation with up to 24 automated folding pockets and automated folding rollers enables setup times to be shortened from several hours to a few minutes; depending on the fold sequence and type of order by up to 95%. This ensures that the machine pays for itself within a very short time. The M9 revolutionizes the way you produce package inserts, operating instructions and product information.
In addition to the M9, H + H presented the S45 small folding machine. It is suitable for the production of short folded products. The machine is available in a predefined configuration. However, you can choose between round and flat pile feeders. By dispensing with machine variants, production can be carried out cheaply and quickly. The low package price includes the feeder, the first and second folder, the transfer and the vertical sheet delivery.
baumannperfecta: Fully automatic shaking and cutting line for commercial printing
After baumannperfecta presented the world’s first fully automatic shaking and cutting line in expansion for industrial label production at Alliance Days 2020, the expansion stage for commercial printers has now followed. In label production, homogeneous grid shapes are usually processed and strips are pre-cut for the punch. With the newly developed expansion stage, finished end products can be cut fully automatically, including nested gang forms. The robot now also takes over the storage and retrieval of partial stacks and the transfer of the finished products to a stacker. The core components of this modular system are the new BASA evolution and the integrated robot cutting system BASS in conjunction with a vertical buffer for the partial stacks.
Via the Postpress Alliance
The Postpress Alliance is an amalgamation of Baumann Maschinenbau Solms, Bograma, H + H, Hohner Maschinenbau, MBO Postpress Solutions, Perfecta and Wohlenberg. The machine-builders, which are complementary in the processing area, have come together in a loose network in order to offer their customers an extensive and diverse range of postpress equipment. Concentrated know-how paired with a medium-sized, fast and customer-oriented approach – that is what the Postpress Alliance stands for.
